Solid People are happy to be working with our client, a successful business who design and manufacture creative storage systems for tools, equipment and hazardous substances to many different markets.

Due to continual success they are now looking for an innovative Product Design Engineer to join the team to develop this existing product range and also look to bring new products to market.

Key Aims of the role:

  • Carrying out R&D projects as instructed, on time and within budget
  • Being innovative and effective with materials but not compromising on great design

  • Key responsibilities:

  • Follow projects through the design process, from initial ideas stage through to final product for launch
  • Lead the start of the design from the Product Design Specification to produce CAD models which can be used to create prototypes and sample units
  • Investigating and testing novel materials & technologies, as dictated by project requirements
  • Taking a 'hands on' approach when working with materials to ensure quality specifications are met.
  • Liaise with internal departments during initial design and development phase ensuring customer requirements are met.
  • Collaborate with suppliers to ensure manufacturing processes are optimised for new designed products as well as ever-improving existing ranges
  • Continuous involvement in existing Product Development
  • Assist in creation of product literature

  • Experience required

    -Minimum of 2-3 years in a similar role within an R&D department

    -Working with CAD/modelling products is essential - SolidWorks

    -Sheet Metal Experience required

    -Creative, Self Motivated, Enthusiastic, Problem Solver

    - HND/Degree in Product design would be desirable or equivalent
